IMPORTANT NOTICE: All vendors and contractors who meet the requirements of the Jessica Lunsford Act, must complete the Sworn Affidavit and Amendment for existing contracts, by September 1, 2005, and initiate fingerprinting process accordingly.

As a result of the passage of the Jessica Lunsford Act (HB 1877) during the 2005 legislative season, contractors and others, including architects, will be required to meet a Level 2 screening requirement that includes any individual or employees of any firm under contract with the school board providing services on school grounds while students are present.

ALL LEVEL 2 SCREENING MUST BE DONE BY M-DCPS PERSONNEL.

The District is in the process of developing additional procedures and guidelines regarding the Jessica Lunsford Act.  There have been several memorandums and technical assistance papers sent from various offices addressing questions and concerns.

In the interim of the final district procedures and guidelines, all schools should adhere to the following:

• All contractors, vendors, etc. are required to sign in and show a valid photo identification card (Florida Identification Card or Drivers License preferred).
• These individuals should be checked on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's website http://www3.fdle.state.fl.us/sopu/index.asp?PSessionId=652230629& for possible sexual predator/offender designation. The search should include the entire state of Florida, not just Miami-Dade County. If a visitor is listed in the database as a Registered Sexual Predator/Offender, contact 305-995-2710 immediately.
• Upon completing the check in process, these contractors, vendors, etc. must be escorted by a staff member while they are on school grounds.
